Day 1 - 25 mi: Morlaix to Huelgoat

This morning we got off to a reasonable 9:30 am start.
After stopping to pick up picnic supplies, we pedaled through Morlaix to the start of the trail.  After another navigation malfunction that included climbing an extra 2 miles, we finally found the Voie Verte which would be our designated route for the day.
The Voie Verte is a converted rail-trail that is hard packed and largely tree lined which was ideal given the mid-80s temperature.

The first 10 miles were uphill at an average 2% grade.  Upon finally reaching the top, we were treated to a short but fast paced descent.

The old train station at Gare Scrignac was the perfect picnic stop.

Our accommodations were off the trail about 8km uphill (actually up 4 hills!) in the adorable hidden gem of a town called Huelgoat.  Thanks to John for finding the most direct route.

It is perched on a lake and  surrounded but a fairytale grade forest.  There is a gorgeous path that winds its way through massive boulders.
Upon resching town it became clear that not many restaurants were opened.  Our friendly B&B host Claudine .amaged to squeeze us in at the local Bistro.  We had a tastyand pleasant dinner by chef Thibaud (or Tibot?) Which included numerous local charcuterie and desserts.

Even though today's ride was only 25 miles, it could have been the unexpected detour, the 10-mile ascent or possibly y
The extra 25 lbs of gear, but all of us were tired once again!
