Day 3 - 40 mi: Mellionec to Pontivy
Madame Chouët prepared a bountiful breakfast with at least eight kinds of bread, six different jams and excellent café. We bid farewell to the picturesque Chambres d'Hote perched on the hill above the Canal.
The route followed the Canal all the way to the Abbaye de Bonrepos at which point it diverged and climbed steeply to a voie verte which took us to Mur-en-Bretagne where lunch included excellent pizza and Lauran had a galette.
Fortunately we were able to use the bridges over the locks to reach the tow path side of the Canal saving almost five miles of up and down on roads. But it did take a team effort to get our bikes and gear across.

The temps were in the high 80s and humid so by the time we cycled the 40 miles to Pontivy we were ready for showers and cold beers.
The town has an impressive castle and quaint old town. Our dinner was at L'Aiglon where we dined on Lotte and Entrecote and had the largest mousse au Chocolat one could imagine. And that was after we declared earlier in the day that we needed to rein in our eating or we'll return home looking like Bib the Michelin Man!
