Day 8: Nantes to St Brevin les Pins
Today we welcomed new riders Ann and Peter Vaden AND started stage 2 of SEBA! A wonderful day as we seemed to hit every type of terrain and vegetation; a good initiation for our new riders? We started on the busy streets of Nantes winding our way through roundabouts and crisscrossing traffic. We soon found ourselves in suburban roadways, forested paths and rural farmland. We did have some impressive climbs today which the e-bikes took with ease 🤔. We had a long stretch along a canal and then finally along the grand, though industrial Loire river.
The Loire is wide and busy. The smell and feel of the air told us that we were nearing the Atlantic. As we neared the mouth of the Loire, there were fishing huts stretching out over the sandy coast. Each one had a large net suspended off its deck.
The ride was a long one but we were able to stop for a picnic lunch in the small town of le Pellerin. A quick Super Marché run produced chips, foie gras, prochiutto, and fruit. We already had baguette, cheese and chocolate! Life is good!
Our finally stretch took us along the breezy seaside and through the quaint town of St Brevin les Pins which several people thought reminded them of the south of France!
We were delighted to turn into the adorable Villa Rose Marie where we will surely sleep well.
