Velodyssee Day 6: Redon to La Chevallerais, 38 mi

The bikes are accumulating dirt and dust!

Today no one seemed too sad to leave Redon which was not nearly as quaint as Josselin or Malestroit.  Redon has a busy port but few waterside cafes or restaurants. We walked 2 miles for a couple of beers and cider.  So without further ado we set our sites southwards.

After an hour or so the Nantes-Brest canal merged with the Issac river.  The river widened out and we saw lots of swans and Herons.

Our new routine seems to be ride for a few hours, drink coffee, ride another few hours eat lunch. What could possibly be better??

The church steeple is a sure sign of impending coffee break!

Lauran riding strong on a hot day!

Café stop in Guenrouët

Where else could you get 5 café au lait for a handful of change?

And….get to tour a beautiful cathedral

The day was beginning to get warm. Fortunately the trail was a well maintained fine (and dusty) gravel which enabled us to keep a good pace. However even the smallest incline is felt when one rides with 2 heavy panniers!

We decided to pass the hottest part of the day feasting on delicious French food. Stephanie located a restaurant in Blaine that looked to be a dark hole-in-the-wall, but….voila it turned out to be a pleasant and delicious way to spend a few hours!

The restaurant was having a back to school special. This was their themed decor!

Weird French sign: does it mean yes to cars? Or hitchhikers stand here?

I guess this is what happens when trees are kept in captivity , we saw 3 like this

Poop du jour: twice baked (and so are we)
